TATA'S HISTORY:
JAMSETJI TATA
We all know about the rebellion of 1857. After that British east India company was thrown out of india. Although BRITISH RAJ came in india. But the British raj provided many economic advantages . Jamsetji Tata graduated from elphinstone college in 1858. It was the best time for him to take the advantage of the scene!
Being a traveloholic Jamsetji tata travelled to many countries. Just after that in 1868 he started an export company.Tata's never knew to rest!! He started The Empress mills in nagpur - 1874(using money he made). Jamsetji Tata always wanted best for his company. He implied best policies in India that no one used before. He started focusing on employees. He gave them incentives and sick leaves and other benefits.
In 1901 he established krupp steel ; In 1903 a hydropower plant was established. He had a far sighted vision. He knew that hotel and tourism industry will flourish in the following years . He started the Taj mahal palace hotel in 1903. Such a futuristic man he was!!! Unfortunately for India he died in 1904. But how can the legacy be over!!!
JRD TATA
JRD TATA ;Raised in France GOT INDIA'S FIRST PILOT LICENSE IN 1929.He was a passionate aviator. In 1932 he started Tata air services which was primarily made for transfer of mails.
But later in 1938 it was made a passenger carrier. Airline business was at flying colours. India got independence in 1947 ! A great day for us!! But unfortunately for JRD TATA!! private business were closed!!!! In 1953 the indian government nationalised the airline!!! Although JRD TATA was made the chairman. But how can TATA give up!!
He started Tata motors in 1945. He expanded his business from14 companies to 95 companies!! Although in 1968 MRTP ACT was passed (monopolies restricted trade policy act) . Tatas were facing a major downfall. Many of its industries were making losses!!
RATAN TATA
Ratan tata is jamsetji's great grand children.
In the year 1971 he was given NELCO charge. At that time NELCO was having 3% market share! Tata always focussed on new products , technology and innovation!! In 1991 he claimed leadership and luckily for him it was the time when LPG POLICY was introduced ( to know more check our blogs). He sold 20% stake in tata motors and bought all his subsidiaries . He even acquired some foreign brands.
One of my favourite incident was when Ratan tata went to sell TATA MOTORS to ford. Ford insulted TATA that if he didn't know how to make cars ; he should not have produced cars! And he is doing a favour by buying tata motors. TATA felt insulted and decided not to sell any of his companies. Later when ford was facing downfall . He bought FORD CARS. And ford told that he was doing a favour to them by buying them!!! RATAN TATA IS LOVED FOR A REASON!!!
You all know Ratan tata very well. He is the chairman of tata groups India. He is well-known for his contributions to the country. He really deserves BHARAT RATNA. He uses 65-66% of profits of tata groups in corporate social responsibility. He is recipient of PADMA BHUSHAN AND PADMA VIBHUSHAN.
From morning's tea to journey to office/ school/ college tata has its brand in all the fields. Ratan tata was born in surat on 28th December 1937. He is well known for his code of conducts in his company.
His Principles are

Many top level management refused to follow these code of conducts but tata won their hearts !
Ratan tata is well-educated indian industrialist. The is a building named ratan tata even at Harvard university!!! The most famous business university ever!!!

TATA ALWAYS BELIEVED IN HIS VALUES AND REPUTATION : A STORY
As we all know , RATAN TATA didn't marry. He has no children of his own. He believed that the tata sons chairman would be the eligible not the reserved. He made cyrus mistry the chairman of tata sons. But on 24 nov 2016.Cyrus mistry was removed from tata sons as chairman without any prior notice.Media critized RATAN TATA for this a lot.
WHY CYRUS MISTRY WAS REMOVED?
WAS IT A MATTER OF PROFIT OR LOSS? WAS IT BECAUSE AN OPPORTUNITY WAS NOT ENCASHED?...Nooo not at all
IT WAS A MATTER OF VALUES, ETHICS AND PERSONALITY
Tata docomo came in 2009. Ratan tata promised them that whenever they want to go back they will give their share's market price or half the investment money. They acquired 26% stake in tata.
Unfortunately for Tata telecom, It faced loss and docomo wanted to go and as per promise they wanted their money but cyrus mistry rejected to give any money. Due to this conflict he was removed. RATAN TATA NEVER COMPROMISED ON INTREGRITY OR COMMITMENT. HE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO RIGHT BUSINESS.Cyrus mistry wanted profits and didn't want any leakage of profits. But we all know tatas never compromised with their values. Tata group has always shown utmost patriotism.
THINGS TO LEARN
1. NEVER COMPROMISE WITH QUALITY
2. ALWAYS DO RIGHT BUSINESS
3. COMMITMENT IS MUST ( ALWAYS DELIVER ON TIME)
4. NEVER COMPROMISE WITH YOUR VALUES
5. BUSINESS ISN'T ALWAYS ABOUT PROFITS.
RATAN TATA IS GLOBAL LEADER FOR A REASON!!
In an article in Dainik Bhaskar , Ratan tata's donation is shown. Not only during covid-19 pandamic Ratan Tata showed up but even during Taj attack he helped many people and even during kerala tsunami.
TATA SALT : A CASE STUDY
WHY IS TATA SALT SO FAMOUS AND SUCCESSFUL? IS IT DUE TO TATA'S GOODWILL?
Well, many other products are not so successful even after having such a great goodwill, but why is tata salt so successful?
REASONS:
1. LOW PRICE POLICY
Tata group knew that Salt is an essential item and people only spend 1% of their monthly income on salt. Even if tata increased or decreased the price it won't have a larger impact.
2. ESSENTIAL
Tata group knew that shopkeepers have to keep salt no matter how much space it occupies or how much low profit margin good it is. If shopkeepers don't keep salt then they will loose their customers as they would go somewhere else to buy salt.
3. COMPETITION ANALYSIS
They Analysed that if their competitors increased their price to give profit to shopkeeper, consumer will buy cheaper tata salt and if they reduce their price to make it cheaper to tata salt they would loose the shopkeeper!!
BUT TATA EVEN STUDIED HIS FAILURE WITH UTMOST FAITH!! HE NEVER CRIED ON HIS FAILURE INSTEAD HE LEARNT FROM IT!
TATA NANO ( naam to suna hi hoga): Only rs. 1 lakh
INDIANS see car as a luxury product. And marketing it as cheap car hurted the emotions of Indians and it was the ultimate Reason why the car failed!! But RATAN TATA never felt sad or failed on his failure! He learnt as was proud that he tried!!
TATA'S ADVICE TO NEW ENTREPRENEURS!!
RATAN TATA IS REALLY A RATAN FOR INDIA!!
JAI HIND!
