Case study of Zomato 😯 - Kalindi Chokshi

ZOMATO CASE STUDY
Do you prefer to order food online when mom made a dish you don't like? Well this is all because of zomato!!!!!!!

The most boring and exhausting thing is to stand in a queue for ordering the food when you are so hungry😣🍕
This was the problem faced by everyone.
It's solution was founded by  Deepinder  Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. They made an website FOODIEBAY on which a user/customer could find good restaurants, and can know about the facilities and services offered by it. They made a tie up with some local restaurants (in Delhi). Than scanned and uploaded it's menu. Within some time the idea got successful. They expanded their business to Kolkata and Mumbai. After being appreciated by all, they thought to speard the business all over the country (India). Now the main obstacle was the name🤔.

They changed the name to Zomato which was short and would be understood by the people easily.

Startups that had the solutions of people's problem have become more successful.
Now in order to provide more facilities to the people they made an app.
But, now there was the problem of funding because expanding  the business in 2-3 states is easy but to get expanded in the whole country needs huge funds. They got funds from Infoedge in 2010-12. Than in 2014 Infoedge, sequoia and Vy  Capital provided 50 million dollars 💵💰 funding.

Zomato is one of the largest food aggregators in the world.

Things to learn :

1. Peace is a myth. There is only passion.

2. Challenge your beliefs.

3. Simplicity trumps complexity(I.e.
simple products works).

4. Focus on solutions not profit

5. Deliver customers cheaper. Have second sources of income ( i.e zomato earns from ads and many more )

6. Be a fast mover not first mover.

7. Adapt with changing business environment ( i.e zomato started delivery of groceries during pandemic)

8. Stay in evergreen Businesses ( i.e. food Business)

9. If you lack finance . Asking for help won't make you little

10. Make you EMPLOYEES priority. Zomato always take care of their delivery boys!
